What made it worse was the way the staff handled it — the receptionist initially tried to pass it off as an “insect sound,” even though she herself had earlier confirmed it was the water pump.

The furniture is worn out, the wood creaks as you walk, the bathrooms are disgusting, and there are all kinds of insects and terrifying noises at night.

The location is quite remote so if you plan on visiting Ubud a lot then bear in mind that it's 40-50 minutes to Ubud centre by car.

In addition, there were several smaller but concerning details that detracted from the overall experience: small insects found around the complimentary dessert, and constant creaking noises from the wooden floor, which made the villa feel less well-maintained than expected for a luxury property.
